Questions about the Bible: 5. Where would you recommend me to start reading the Bible?
Where would you recommend me to start reading the Bible?
Don’t be put off the Bible simply because you don’t know where to start. This doesn’t have to be the case, and that’s why this question is such a good one to ask.
I would suggest reading a section or book called John’s Gospel. It is an eyewitness account of Jesus’ life. The whole of the Bible is about Jesus and points to Him. Therefore, to read about Him, understand Him and get to know Him is so central to the Christian faith that reading about Him is critical.
The Book of John is in the second section of the Bible, the New Testament. If you’re unsure where to find it there is always an index at the beginning of the Bible. After reading John, I would advise reading the other three accounts of Jesus’ life, Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Before reading the Bible, God’s word, I suggest you ask Him to make Himself known to you as you read. As we have said before, God wants to reveal Himself to us. If you ask Him, He will hear you, and answer.
