Do you really believe God made the world?
For centuries people have speculated as to how the world began. ‘Where did we come from?’ is an intriguing question; but so is, ‘Where are we going?’ We live in a society, which is continually bombarded with the idea that evolution is not just a theory but a fact. The media, for whatever reason, has given a great amount of time to Richard Dawkins, popularising his atheistic views. Dawkins criticises the argument that just as the complex workings of a watch need a designer, so the complex workings of nature need a designer too. Evolution is presented as if it is the only possible way all things came into being. The many scientific evidences that actually undermine the theory of evolution are rarely presented to us. Frankly, this is not honest. It takes more faith to believe that there is no cause behind creation than to believe in a Creator. Neither is it right to place the account of creation recorded in the Bible alongside fictional, fanciful stories about the beginnings of the world.
If there was a ‘time’ when there was nothing, how can something have occurred from nothing? If there has always been something, who or what is that something? How did it get there?
The Bible states as a matter of historical fact that God has always existed, and that He did make the world. We read, ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’ (Genesis 1:1). It is reasonable to believe that behind all design there is a Designer, and everything made must have a Maker. The Bible is not unscientific. It does challenge some of the theories which have been widely accepted, but which cannot be tested. It teaches that there is an intrinsic difference between vegetable life, animal life and human life. Unlike the rest of creation, human beings were made with a spiritual dimension, and are accountable to God.
If God is all-powerful then there is no difficulty in believing that He made the world and knows every detail about all of creation. Someone put it in these words: there is about as much chance of this world coming from a big bang as there would be the Encyclopaedia Britannica coming from an explosion in a printing factory.
God who made something out of nothing is able to make something out of any individual! Have you experienced this yet?
